Dental Implants

When a tooth or multiple teeth are missing, a range of issues can develop, such as chronic headaches, increased risk of oral infections, and jawbone deterioration. Missing teeth also affect your ability to speak and chew. Dental implants are an effective replacement for missing teeth that are comprised of a titanium post that acts as the root of the tooth, an abutment, that attaches to the post, and a crown that is fabricated to look and feel like your natural tooth and restore your full smile.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

To determine if wisdom teeth removal is indeed in your best interests, you will want to schedule an initial evaluation. During this consultation we will examine the overall health of your teeth, review your medical history, and determine what treatment options are best suited to your specific needs. Our teeth and gums are as unique to us as our fingerprints; we are all different.

Implant Supported Dentures

Implant supported dentures are a type of overdenture that is attached to and supported by dental implants. Dental implants are a surgical component(s) that connect a dental prosthesis to the bone of the skull or jaw. Implant supported dentures are commonly recommended for patients who have missing teeth or who have traditional dentures and are frustrated with common issues related to them, such as frequent shifting and slipping, discomfort, or having to modify their diet.

Gum Disease

Gum disease is a very common condition that is one of the most common causes of tooth loss. In the early stage of gum disease, symptoms typically include gum recession, chronic halitosis, and/or gums that bleed easily when brushing. As gum disease advances, more significant issues can develop, such as tooth loss or increased risk of developing additional health issues. If treated early, gum disease can typically be reversed or halted with a deep cleaning and improved oral hygiene habits. For more advanced cases, procedures such as scaling and root planning or a dental implant placement may be necessary.

Pinhole Gum Surgery

A popular alternative to gum grafting, Pinhole Surgical Technique is an innovative treatment option to correct recessed gums in a manner that is minimally invasive, causes less discomfort, and has a faster recovery period. To restore your gums to their proper position, tiny pinholes are made in your gumline, through which a device is used to peel and stretch the gums to a more suitable position, after which collagen strips are inserted to secure the gums and help create new tissue.

Laser Gum Therapy

Laser gum therapy is a newer, alternative method to access and remove inflamed gum tissue using a laser, rather than traditional dental tools, which are more invasive and can cause some discomfort. Additional benefits of laser gum therapy include a faster healing time, reduction in swelling, pain, and bleeding, and improved precision and accuracy.

Gum Recession

Gum recession may develop due to certain medications, as a natural consequence of aging, or in many cases, due to untreated gum disease. Gum recession often occurs gradually and is not identified until the gums have already receded to the point of affecting your smile. There are several methods for correcting recessed gums, including gum graft surgery and Pinhole Surgical Technique. Before correcting recessed gums, it will first be necessary to identify and treat the underlying reason causing the recession.

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry is often provided to patients who are having intensive oral procedures performed and/or for patients who have extra sensitive teeth or anxiety related to having dental procedures performed. There are a range of sedation types that may be offered, ranging from mild, moderate, and deep sedation.

Tooth Exposure

When a tooth becomes impacted, this increases your risk of developing an infection and can eventually cause other issues to occur, including misalignment of your teeth. To prevent this from happening, the tooth is exposed by lifting the gum covering the impacted tooth.  Next, an orthodontic bracket with a chain attached is bonded to the tooth. Within two weeks of this bracket being placed, a rubber band is attached to this chain which is used to gradually pull the tooth into the proper position.

LANAP

LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) is a minimally invasive treatment option for periodontal issues. Unlike traditional methods of treating periodontal disease, which require the use of scalpels and other invasive devices, LANAP can pinpoint and kill bacteria without damaging surrounding gum tissue. Patients often prefer being treated with LANAP because it creates less discomfort and the healing process is much faster.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a common procedure that can be performed on infants, children and adults, and can either be performed under the tongue (lingual frenectomy) or inside the middle of the upper lip (labial frenectomy). A frenectomy is most commonly performed as a treatment for tongue-tie, to prevent gum recession, or to ensure a proper fit for patients getting dentures.

Gum Contouring

Gum contouring corrects uneven gum lines by changing the shape of your gums, either by cutting away excessive gum tissue using a scalpel, laser, or both or restoring gum tissue that has receded. Although gum contouring can be done for cosmetic reasons, it will be necessary to first identify and address any underlying issues that may be causing the uneven gumline.

More on Gum Contouring >

Scaling & Root Planing

Scaling and root planing is an effective treatment option for gum disease, especially in its early stages. The procedure involves using specialized tools (periodontal scalers and curettes) to remove dental plaque and calculus that cannot be removed by brushing your teeth, then smoothing the surfaces of the roots, which removes the dentine or cementum that contain microorganisms, toxins, or calculus, all of which cause inflammation.

Laser Gum Surgery

Laser gum surgery is a newer, alternative method to access and remove inflamed gum tissue using a laser, rather than traditional dental tools, which are more invasive and can cause some discomfort. Additional benefits of laser gum surgery include a faster healing time, reduction in swelling, pain, and bleeding, and improved precision and accuracy.

Crown Lengthening

Individuals who have excessive gingival display can restore a balanced ratio between their gums and teeth with a crown lengthening procedure. There are several different crown lengthening techniques, but in most cases the procedure involves removing gum tissue using a scalpel, laser or both until the desired gumline is achieved. Crown lengthening can also be performed in conjunction with placement of a dental crown.
