Implant Supported Dentures Denton, TX

Implant supported dentures denton tx are the latest solution from the continued introduction of modern technology in dentistry. They are a new type of overdenture that is attached to and supported by titanium dental implants. These dental implant posts are a small surgical component(s) that connect a dental prosthesis to the bone of the jaw, becoming an artificial root. Implant supported dentures are now being recommended more often for patients who have either missing teeth or who have standard dentures and are becoming frustrated with the common issues related to them. These issues include the frequent slipping and shifting, discomfort, or having to modify their diet and dismiss some foods they enjoy. There are several different final applications of implant supported dentures. These include All-on-4, All-on-6, bridges, or even single implants. Which implant type is right for you will depend upon your unique needs and the severity of your actual tooth loss.

The professionally trained team at Root Periodontal and Implant Center at 1601 North Elm in Denton, Texas specialize in understanding the many dynamics of the Implant Supported Denture procedure. Candidates for Implant Supported Dentures

The variety of implant supported dentures are becoming a popular option for any patient who is missing a tooth or teeth. Sometimes, however, a patient who has additional health issues might not be a viable candidate for having the implant surgery performed. Additionally, after scans are taken, some patients may not have enough jawbone density and they will require a bone graft procedure before they are able to adequately support a dental implant.

There is quite a list of short-term and long-term benefits that you will enjoy with your implant supported dentures, including the following:

  • They feel and function like natural teeth
  • Much easier to speak compared to bulky dentures
  • The titanium posts evenly distribute your bite and chewing forces
  • Those titanium posts deliver temperature change sensations
  • There is noticeable less discomfort and maintenance then dentures
  • They maintain the integrity of your bone structure, stymieing atrophy
  • They prevent any additional bone loss, which will create an aged appearance
  • They will keep adjacent teeth healthy

Implant Supported Dentures Process

An initial consultation needs to be scheduled to determine if implant supported dentures will work for you. At this exam, we will deliberately scrutinize the overall health of your teeth and gums, we will review your full medical history, take a number of x-rays and scans, and then we will devise a plan with treatment options that are best suited to your unique needs. When we decide how many implants will work best for you and the exact location in the jawbone is pinpointed, our periodontist then finish this first step by examining your jawbone to ensure there is an adequate amount of bone to hold an implant in those specific spots identified.

When all parties agree that implant supported dentures will work for you, the next step is to schedule an appointment to actually place the dental implants. This important step surgically puts small titanium posts into the areas of your jawbone to support the dentures. Prior to this small surgically procedure, you must be given a local anesthetic. The type of anesthesia used may vary, depending upon the complexity of your case, the number of implants and your overall pain sensitivity. Once your gums are adequately numbed, the posts are surgically and strategically placed. Following this surgical procedure, we need to exercise patience since it will take at least several months for the posts to fuse, grow, and integrate with the jawbone. While we are waiting, you will be fitted with a set of temporary dentures. Once x-rays show that the posts have fully integrated, you will return for your final visit. We will add extensions or abutments to the posts to reach the surface of your gums. Then your final and permanent set of dentures are placed. There are small nylon snaps on the backside of the denture tray digitally placed perfectly. These snaps lock directly on to the post extensions which now provide the strength and stability benefits as if they were natural roots.

Scheduling regular visits to maintain your teeth and gums will actively improve your overall health, and maintaining a bright and strong healthy smile will do wonders for your self-confidence.

Aftercare for Implant Supported Dentures

Directly following your procedure, it will be important to follow the aftercare instructions. Two quick examples are to avoid any beverages that are extremely hot or cold and to avoid any strenuous physical activity. You will also be advised to not spit, use a straw, do not consume alcohol or any tobacco products while your surgical sites heal.

Once you have finally finished this necessary healing process, the most important thing you can do to maintain your successful results is to practice good oral hygiene habits at home. Brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing at least once daily. These same habits apply to your new dentures. Damaging plaque will adhere to these surfaces also which will then result in gum disease. Make sure you consistently clean all attachments, all artificial teeth, and everywhere around the gums.

In addition to practicing consistent and proper oral selfcare at home, our team also feel strongly about scheduling regular checkups every six months. With these visits, we can monitor your implants with x-rays, make sure they are fitting properly and ensure that all abutments, attachments, and implants are remaining positioned correctly. We will professionally clean everything, teeth, gums, and dentures, as well as check out the condition of the nylon snaps. By maintaining this consistent preventative routine, you will significantly reduce the risk of developing any additional periodontal issues allowing you to continue enjoying your healthy smile and the associated attributes of that smile.

Implant Supported Dentures Cost

There are several various components that can impact the final cost of having implant supported dentures. These include the complexity of your case, any additional procedures such as tooth extraction or bone grafting, that must be performed prior to or along with treatment. It also includes the number of implants used, the number of appointments to accomplish the total procedure, any additional sedation for dental anxiety, as well as your dental insurance plan.

Our team is trained and committed to helping you complete necessary paperwork, schedule appointments, and answer any questions you have that might concerning billing. If you have an insurance plan, we do request you submit the medical/dental insurance information with your New Patient Paperwork to expedite this part of the process.

Please note: to control all costs to you while still ensuring that we can provide the highest level of care, we have the following financial polices:

  • We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express
  • Full payment is due after services rendered

PERIODONTAL SERVICES

To determine if you have gum disease, your periodontist will measure the space between your teeth and gums. Patients who have pockets that are deeper than the average depth of three millimeters or less will be considered candidates for treating gum disease. Depending upon how severe your case is, your periodontist will suggest a follow up appointment, during which several different treatment options may be recommended.
