Implant Supported Dentures Flower Mound, TX

Implant supported dentures flower mound tx are the latest solution resulting from the continued introduction of modern technology into the dental industry. They are a new type of overdenture that are supported by and attached to titanium dental implants. These implant posts are a small dental surgical component(s) that connect a dental prosthesis to the bone of the jaw, thus becoming an artificial root. Implant supported dentures are now being more popular with patients who have either missing teeth or who have standard dentures and are becoming frustrated and annoyed with the issues related to them. These common issues include the frequent shifting and moving, the discomfort, or having to modify their diet and avoid some foods they enjoy. There are some different final applications of implant supported dentures. These include All-on-6, All-on-4, bridges, or even single implants. Which dental implant application is right for you will depends upon your unique needs and the severity of your actual tooth loss.

The professionally trained team at Root Periodontal and Implant Center at 651 Cross Timbers Rd. in Flower Mound, Texas specialize in understanding the various dynamics of the Implant Supported Denture procedure. Candidates for Implant Supported Dentures

The variety of implant supported dentures are becoming a favored option for a patient who is missing a tooth or teeth. Sometimes, unfortunately, a patient may have additional health issues which might mean they are not be a viable candidate for having the implant surgery performed. We will also introduce digital scans, and after these scans are taken, some patients may not have enough jawbone density which then dictates a bone graft procedure before they are able to adequately support a dental implant.

There are quite a few benefits, short-term and long-term, you will enjoy with your implant supported dentures, including the following:

  • They feel and function like natural teeth
  • There is noticeable less discomfort and maintenance then dentures
  • The titanium posts evenly distribute your bite and chewing forces
  • Those titanium posts deliver temperature change sensations
  • Much easier to speak compared to bulky dentures
  • They maintain the integrity of your bone structure, stymieing atrophy
  • They prevent any additional bone loss, which will create an aged appearance
  • They will keep any adjacent teeth healthy

Implant Supported Dentures Process

We start with an initial consultation which needs to be scheduled to determine if implant supported dentures will work for you. At this first  exam, we will purposefully scrutinize the overall health of your teeth and gums, we will review your full medical history in depth, we will take a number of x-rays and scans, and then we will develop a plan with the treatment options that are best suited to your unique needs. When our team decides how many implants will work best for you and the exact locations in the jawbone are pinpointed, our periodontist then finishes this first step by examining your jawbone to confirm there is an adequate amount of bone to hold an implant in those specific spots identified.

When we are in agreement that implant supported dentures will work for you, an appointment to actually place the dental implants needs to be scheduled. This next important step surgically places those small titanium posts into the areas of your jawbone to support the dentures. At the onset of this small surgically procedure, you must be given a local anesthetic. The type of anesthesia may vary, depending upon the difficulty of your case, the number of implants and your overall levels of pain sensitivity. When your gums are adequately numbed, the posts are quickly surgically and strategically placed. Following this quick surgical procedure, we need to exercise patience together since it will take several months for those posts to grow into, fuse into, and integrate with the jawbone. While we are waiting, you will receive a set of temporary dentures. Once the x-rays show that the posts have fully integrated, you will return for your final fun visit. At this final visit we will add tiny extensions or abutments to the posts to reach the surface of your gums. Then your beautiful and permanent set of dentures are placed. You will find small nylon snaps on the backside of the denture tray that have been digitally placed perfectly. As you put the dentures on your arch these snaps lock directly on to the post extensions. These now provide the strength and stability benefits as if they were natural roots.

CONTACT ROOT™

Scheduling regular visits to maintain your teeth and gums will actively improve your overall health, and maintaining a bright and strong healthy smile will do wonders for your self-confidence.

Aftercare for Implant Supported Dentures

Right after your procedure, it will be important to follow some aftercare instructions. Two brief examples are to avoid any strenuous physical activity and to avoid beverages that are extremely hot or cold. You will also be advised to not use a straw, to not spit, do not consume alcohol or any tobacco products to allow your surgical sites to heal.

After you have finally finished this necessary healing process, the next most important thing you can do to continue your successful results is to practice good at-home oral hygiene habits. These include brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing at least once daily. These same good habits apply to your new dentures as well. That damaging plaque will adhere to any surface which will then result in gum disease. Make sure you consistently and regularly clean all attachments, all artificial teeth, and all your gums.

In addition to practicing this consistent and proper oral selfcare at home, our team will strongly encourage you to schedule regular checkups every six months. With these consistent visits, we will monitor your implants with x-rays, make sure they are fitting properly and ensure that any abutments, attachments, and implants are still positioned correctly. We will always professionally clean everything, teeth, gums, and dentures, as well as check out any wear on the nylon snaps. By maintaining this preventative routine, you will proactively reduce the risk of developing any additional periodontal issues. This will allow you to continue enjoying your healthy smile and the associated attributes of that smile for some time to come.

Implant Supported Dentures Cost

It also impacted by the number of implants used, the number of appointments to accomplish the total procedure, any additional sedation used for dental anxiety, as well as your dental insurance plan.

Our team is both trained and committed to help you complete all necessary paperwork, schedule appointments, and answer any questions you have that might concerning billing. If you have an insurance plan, we do request that you submit the medical/dental insurance information with your New Patient Paperwork to expedite this part of the procedure.

PERIODONTAL SERVICES

Patients who have pockets that are deeper than the average depth of three millimeters or less will be considered candidates for treating gum disease. Depending upon how severe your case is, your periodontist will suggest a follow up appointment, during which several different treatment options may be recommended.
