Candidate for Wilckodontics
Nearly any patient is a potential candidate for Wilckodontics, provided that you have a healthy bone structure and all of your permanent teeth are in. The procedure is especially popular with children, as it allows them to avoid what some feel is an embarrassing stigma associated with wearing traditional braces. Often parents will schedule for their children to have this procedure performed during the summer months, so by the time the
new school years rolls around, they are ready to share their new smile! The procedure is also popular with adults, as there can be an added stigma associated with having braces as an adult.
There are a range of immediate and long-term benefits that you or your child will enjoy following the Wilckodontics procedure, including the following:
- Improved teeth stability
- Shorter treatment time
- Minimal associated risks
- High success rate
- Can eliminate need to perform jaw surgery or extract teeth
- Can be performed on most patients
- Creates a long-lasting smile
Wilckodontics Process
In order to determine if Wilckodontics is right for you, you will need to schedule an initial consultation, during which we will examine the overall health of your teeth, review your medical history, and determine what treatment options are best suited to your unique needs.
If Wilckodontics is determined to be the optimal treatment option for you, your procedure will typically begin with a local anesthetic. The type of anesthesia that is used may vary, depending upon the severity of your case as well as your overall sensitivity. Once you are properly numbed, your periodontist will pull back the gum tissue covering your roots. Next, they will score the bone in order to soften it. Bone is then grafted under the gums in order to alter the future movement of the tooth. Once this is complete, the traditional wire and brackets will be placed, which will keep the teeth in place during the healing process. Finally, the gums are sutured shut. During the healing period, the bony tissues will gradually harden back to their original state and strength.
Aftercare for Wilckodontics
Following your Wilckodontics procedure, you may experience some soreness and discomfort. This can typically be managed by over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Ibuprofen or Advil. As you continue through the healing process, it will not be necessary to follow special aftercare instructions; however, to maximize the benefits and longevity of this procedure, it is critical to practice good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing at least once daily, ideally every time you brush your teeth. It is also important to practice proper brushing and flossing techniques. In addition to practicing consistent and proper oral selfcare, it is also important to schedule regular checkups every six months. By maintaining a consistent oral health care routine, you will significantly reduce your risk for developing additional periodontal issues and will continue enjoying a bright and healthy smile.
Wilckodontics Cost
There are a range of factors that can impact the final cost of having Wilckodontics treatment, such as the severity of your case, any associated procedures that will need to be performed prior to or along with treatment, as well as your insurance plan.
Our team is committed to helping you complete necessary paperwork, schedule appointments, and answer any questions you have concerning billing. For patients who have insurance plans, we do request you submit medical/dental insurance information with your New Patient Paperwork to expedite this process. PERIODONTAL SERVICES
To determine if you have gum disease, your periodontist will measure the space between your teeth and gums. Patients who have pockets that are deeper than the average depth of three millimeters or less will be considered candidates for treating gum disease. Depending upon how severe your case is, your periodontist will suggest a follow up appointment, during which several different treatment options may be recommended.
