Implant Supported Dentures Fort Worth Keller, TX

Modern technology continues to have a positive influence on the dental industry. Implant supported dentures Fort Worth Keller TX are the latest solution combining two methods. They are like an overdenture which is attached to and supported by the technology of titanium dental implants. These implanted titanium posts are a small surgical component(s) that connect a fabricated dental prosthesis to your jawbone, literally growing into an artificial root. Implant supported dentures are growing in popularity with those who have either missing teeth or who currently have traditional dentures and are becoming frustrated and annoyed with the faults associated with them. These frequent include the shifting, sliding, or moving of the dentures, the uncomfortable fit, any discomfort, or even having to change diets to avoid some foods they enjoy. Implant supported dentures have some different and various final applications. These often include All-on-4, All-on-6, bridges, or even single tooth implants. Which variety of dental implant application will work for you depends upon your unique oral needs and the conditions related to your actual tooth loss.

Candidates for Implant Supported Dentures

These unique implant supported dentures are becoming an attractive option for a patient who is missing a tooth or teeth for all the right reasons. Sometimes on a rare occasion, a patient may have some additional health issues which would mean they may not be a viable candidate for having this solution. Our team will also introduce digital scans to guide decisions. After these scans have been taken, some patients may not have the jawbone density to sufficiently support a dental implant which then dictates the need of a bone graft procedure.

There are certainly some very quantifiable benefits, short-term and long-term, you will enjoy with your implant supported dentures:

  • They feel and function like natural teeth
  • They prevent any additional bone loss, which will create an aged appearance
  • They maintain the integrity of your bone structure, stymieing atrophy
  • Much easier to speak compared to bulky dentures
  • The titanium posts evenly distribute your bite and chewing forces
  • Those titanium posts deliver temperature change sensations
  • There is noticeable less discomfort and maintenance then dentures
  • They will keep any adjacent teeth healthy

Implant Supported Dentures Process

As stated above, we must first start with an initial consultation to confirm if implant supported dentures will work for you. At this first exam, we will first attempt to understand who you are and your particular situation by scrutinizing the overall health of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues. We will also review your full medical history in detail, we will capture some revealing x-rays and scans, and only then we will introduce a plan with your treatment options that are best suited to your unique needs. Then a team consultation with you determines how many implants will work best for you. The exact locations for the implants in the jawbone are pinpointed, our periodontist then finishes this first step by examining the density of your jawbone to confirm there is a sufficient amount of bone to support an implant in those specific spots identified.

After this consultation and we are in full agreement we are ready to go to the next step. This next step is quite important involving some minor oral surgery.  At this time those small titanium posts are placed into the areas of your jawbone to support your new dentures. At the onset of this small surgically procedure, a local anesthetic is administered. The amount of anesthesia may vary, depending upon the difficulty of your case, the number of implants to be placed and your individual sensitivity. Once your gums have become adequately numbed, the quick surgical procedure strategically places the implant posts. After this quick surgical procedure is completed, we need to exercise purposeful patience together since it will take a few months for those posts to stabilize by growing into, fusing into, and integrating with the jawbone. While we wait, you will receive a set of temporary dentures. Once the x-rays confirm that the posts have fully integrated and stable, you get to return for the final visit which is fun. At this visit, we will add tiny extensions or abutments to those titanium posts to reach the surface of your gums. Now what you have been waiting for! Your beautifully crafted permanent set of dentures are placed. You will see small nylon snaps affixed to the backside of the denture tray that have been digitally placed perfectly. As you set the dentures on your arch these snaps lock directly on to those post extensions. Just like that those posts provide the strength and stability benefits as if they were natural roots.

CONTACT ROOT™

Scheduling regular visits to maintain your teeth and gums will actively improve your overall health, and maintaining a bright and strong healthy smile will do wonders for your self-confidence.

Aftercare for Implant Supported Dentures

It is important to follow some aftercare instructions directly after your procedure. Two apparent examples are to avoid any tough or taxing physical activity and to also avoid beverages that are extremely cold or hot. We will also advise you to not consume alcohol or any tobacco products, to not use a straw, or to not spit, to give your surgical sites a chance to heal.

Once this healing process is behind you, the next thing you should always consider doing to enjoy your successful results is to continue to practice good at-home oral hygiene habits, day in and day out. These habits include brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing once daily. These habits apply to your new dentures as well. That plaque which is created daily will adhere to any surface resulting in a gum disease. Make sure you consistently clean all artificial teeth, all attachments, and all your gums.

In addition to maintaining this proper oral selfcare at home, our team will also encourage you to schedule regular checkups, twice a year. At these appointments, we will monitor your implants with x-rays, make sure they are no changes and ensure that any attachments, abutments, and implants are still positioned correctly. We will always clean everything professionally, dentures, teeth, and gums, as well as check out any wear on those small nylon snaps. By exercising this regular preventative routine, you are proactively reducing any risks developing of any additional periodontal issues. This allows you to continue both enjoying your healthy smile and the many associated attributes of that smile for quite some time.

Implant Supported Dentures Cost

Various elements and components can impact the final cost of having implant supported dentures. These begin with the unique complexity of your case, if there are any tooth extractions or bone grafting, that need to be performed along with treatment. The cost will also be impacted by the number of implants used, the number of appointments necessary for the total procedure, any additional sedation administered for dental anxiety, as well as your specific dental insurance plan.

Our team is all trained to help you complete all the necessary paperwork, to schedule your appointments, and to answer any questions you might have concerning billing. If you have an insurance coverage, we will ask that you please submit the medical/dental insurance information with your New Patient Paperwork to expedite this part of the entire procedure.

Please note: to control all assortment of costs to you and still ensuring that we can and will provide the highest level of care, we also have the following financial polices:

  • Full payment is due after services rendered
  • We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express
  • Payment plan options are available via CareCredit.com

PERIODONTAL SERVICES

To determine if you have gum disease, your periodontist will measure the space between your teeth and gums. Patients who have pockets that are deeper than the average depth of three millimeters or less will be considered candidates for treating gum disease. Depending upon how severe your case is, your periodontist will suggest a follow up appointment, during which several different treatment options may be recommended.
