Laser Gum Surgery and Treatment Process
In order to determine if laser gum surgery and treatment is right for you, you will need to schedule an initial consultation, during which we will examine the overall health of your teeth, review your medical history, and determine what treatment options are best suited to your unique needs.
If laser gum surgery and treatment is determined to be the optimal treatment option for you, the procedure will begin with administration of light sedation if necessary, however many patients will not require sedation, as the procedure is painless. Once properly prepared, the laser will penetrate beneath the tissue surface and destroys any bacteria, plaque, or infected tissue. Once the infected tissue has been removed, your periodontist will use a cleaner to remove the calculus. Finally, the laser will seal the area surrounding the tooth, which also warm the stem cells, which in turn develops tissues that form around the root of the tooth.
This process ensures that tissue is not reduced and facilitates the formation of collagen, bone, and new connective tissue.
Each area that has been infected can typically be treated within 30-45 minutes, which means you will only require one visit to correct this issue.
Once this step is complete, you can begin enjoying your bright new healthy smile!
Aftercare for Laser Gum Surgery and Treatment
Following your laser gum surgery and treatment, it will be necessary to follow special aftercare instructions; however, to maximize the benefits and longevity of this procedure, it is critical to practice good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing at least once daily, ideally every time you brush your teeth. It is also important to practice proper brushing and flossing techniques. In addition to practicing consistent and proper oral selfcare, it is also important to schedule regular checkups every six months. By maintaining a consistent oral health care routine, you will significantly reduce your risk for developing additional periodontal issues and will continue enjoying a bright and healthy smile.
