Pilar Valderrama DDS, MSD
Dr. Valderrama obtained her Periodontics and Dental Implantology degree in 2010 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She obtained a Master Degree in Clinical Investigation from the UTHSCSA in 2006. She received her dental degree from the Dental School of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in 1988 in Colombia. While in Colombia, she worked with underserved communities promoting oral health and taught at her alma mater in the undergrad and post-graduate programs. She was involved supervising and conducting research about the link between periodontal and systemic diseases. She came to the UTHSCSA in San Antonio, Texas as a visiting professor and scholar to do research in implant dentistry in 2003. In 2004 she received a Fellowship Award by the International Congress of Dental Implantologists. At UT San Antonio she undertook clinical, research and academic duties from 2003 until 2007. She obtained her board certification from the American Board of Periodontology in 2011 and became International Team of Implantologists, ITI, Fellow in 2012.
Dr. Valderrama lived and practiced in Central Texas from 2010 to 2012 where she worked part time at the Temple Central Texas Veterans Health Care System serving disabled veterans with periodontal needs and taught at the Temple College Dental Hygiene School.
In 2012, she relocated to Dallas and joined the Department of Periodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry and the Dallas VA Dental Clinic. In 2013, she was awarded the prestigious Teaching Fellowship Award of The American Academy of Periodontology. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at TAMCOD.

Dr. Valderrama has published papers and book chapters in the fields of periodontal regeneration, implantology, the treatment of peri-implantitis, accelerated orthodontics and patient centered outcomes in national and international peer- reviewed journals. She has lectured at national and international dental meetings and has received national awards in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Valderrama specializes in advanced periodontal regeneration surgeries, dental implant surgery, sinus augmentation, advanced bone grafting. She practices minimally invasive surgery and sedation dentistry which minimizes pain and discomfort to her patients. She provides plastic periodontal surgery for esthetic crown lengthening or for root coverage. She has expertise in surgery for accelerated orthodontics which helps reducing the duration of orthodontic treatment is adult patients. She is passionate about treating her patients with high quality standards in a very compassionate way and having in consideration their quality of life improvement. Being bilingual in English and Spanish enables her to help Hispanic patients with sensitivity and cultural understanding.
Personal
Dr. Valderrama is actively involved in serving her profession. She is President of The Southwest Society of Periodontists and Past-President of the North Texas Hispanic Dental Association. She was elected as Fellow of the American College of Dentists and The International College of Dentists in 2014. She is a member of The American Academy of Periodontology, The American Dental Association, Texas Society of Periodontists and Texas Dental Association.
Dr. Valderrama’s husband is a podiatrist and works at the Plastic Surgery Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center. They participate in International medical missions annually and in local outreach events throughout the year. They are active parishioners and are involved in their church activities. They have two beautiful daughters who are very active and practice soccer and waterpolo and have two amazing dogs. They enjoy going to the theater and the symphony as well as reading, traveling, hiking, cooking and gardening.

Dr. Fallah received his DDS degree in 2009 and subsequently completed his residency program in Periodontics at New York University College of Dentistry in 2015. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontics in 2016 and has been practicing periodontics in private practice in Dallas since 2015.
