Gum Grafting Costs

On average, a gum graft Frisco Tx typically ranges between $600-$1700. As with any procedure, the cost of a gum graft will depend on a range of factors, including how many teeth require grafting, what type of graft is performed, and whether this procedure is being performed along with any additional procedures. If your insurance plan covers the gum grafting procedure, your out of pocket expenses may be much less. If you are uncertain whether or not gum grafting is covered under your dental insurance plan, contact your provider or regular dentist or periodontist for an estimate.

Additional Cost Factors

In addition to the cost of the gum graft, there will be other costs that impact the total amount of money required for the procedure to be completed. This includes the cost of the initial appointment to determine whether gum grafting is right for you, as well as any additional procedures being performed along with gum grafting. The severity of your case and the length of time involved in performing the gum grafting procedure will also inform the total cost, as will whether or not dental sedation is administered, and if so, what kind of dental sedation is used.

Payment Options

Gum grafting is generally covered by insurance plan; however, every patient’s plan will have different levels of coverage and out of pocket expenses. If you are having a gum graft performed in addition to other related procedures, it may be a good idea to have part of your treatment occur towards the end of the fiscal year and schedule any follow up appointments for early the next year when your plan cycles over. If you do not have dental insurance, additional payment options for covering the cost of gum grafting are provided below.

FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) and HSA (Health Savings Account)

FSA’s allow patients to contribute $2,600 annually that is untaxed and allows for payment of out-of-pocket health care expenses. Some employers also make contributions to the FSA, but are not required to. HSA’s allow patients to contribute $3,400 annually per individual or $6,700 for families that is untaxed and allows for payment of out-of-pocket health care expenses. Unlike FSA’s, the funds in an HSA account are carried over each year and can be transferred if you change jobs.

If you are planning on using this payment option, be sure to discuss what your clinic’s policies are regarding payment. Some clinics require that you pay the clinic directly and then get reimbursed whereas others will bill the account directly.

Monthly Payment Plan

If these payment options are not available to you and you are avoiding scheduling an appointment for a gum grafting procedure because you are concerned about the financial impact, ask your dentist or periodontist if they offer payment plans. Every clinic has slightly different financial policies, but it is not uncommon for clinics to allow patients to pay for a certain percentage of the procedure up front and then make monthly payments over an agreed upon period of time.
